    Amala is a famous yester year South Indian film actress, who has acted in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada,Malayalam, and Hindi films. She is additionally single of the prominent being human rights activists of India..

    Amala was born on 12th September, 1968 in West Bengal. Her mother is an Irish and father is Bengali. Her real name was Amala Mukherjee. She has an elder brother and sister. She is married to Telugu movie actor Nagarjuna Akkineni.

    She was established and educated in the sphere of Chennai. She was educated in Kalakshetra, Madras (now Chennai). She was a Bharatanatyam dancer by profession. She is also one of the prominent animal rights activists of India.

    Amala made her debut in a Tamil film titled "Mythili Yennai Kadali" directed by T. Rajendar, which was a big box office hit. Winning overnight fame in a Tamil film by famous director T. Rajendar, she charmed cinegoers in a flurry of fifty films. She act against in the sphere of a amount of Tamil movies. Her presentation in the sphere of Pushpak and Agni Natchathiram are unforgettable.

    She has also starred in many Tollywood movies and few Bollywood movies. Apart from Tamil and Telugu she also acted in few Malayalam and Kannada films.

    She acted with Telugu film actor Nagarjuna in hits like Nirnayam and Shiva. The movie Shiva was a mega blockbuster and brought her wide fame and recognition.

    In 1992, she married Telugu actor Akkineni Nagarjuna, who was her co-star in Ram Gopal Verma's film "Shiva" and became a step mother to his 6-year-old son (at that time) named Naga Chaitanya, from her husband's first marriage. They have one son, named Akhil.


    Her son Akhil (born in 1994) acted in a movie 'Sisindri'(1995), an unacknowledged copy of the Hollywood film Baby's Day Out, as the baby.

    Amala is the founder of Blue Cross of Hyderabad, a Non-Government Organization (NGO) in Hyderabad, India, which works towards the welfare of animals and preservation of animal rights.


    She is a Vegetarian. She is also an environmentalist. She also teaches Yoga for women, and actively promotes communal harmony.
