Preeti Jhangiani was born on 18th August 1980 in the Sindhi-speaking Jhangiani family in Mangalore, Karnataka. She has an older sister, Deepa. Preeti Jhangiani’s height is 5’5” tall.
She used to study in St. Xavier's College, in Ahmedabad. She is fluent in Sindhi, Hindi, English and also has some knowledge of Malyalam and Telugu.
Preeti first made her appearance in a music video titled 'Chui Mui' from Rajshri opposite South Indian actor, Abbas. This video became a hit. Her elfin face and innocent looks won hearts of millions. Her on screen chemistry with Abbas made them both look extremely desirable to such an extent that the duo became love icons and the koala bear became a symbol of love all around.
This paved the Chui Mui girl was seen in umpteen TV commercials most famous being Nirma Sandal soap in which, she replaced Sonali Bendre.
In 1993, she even made her film bebut a Malayalam film, Mazhivillu, directed by Dinesh Babu, which was critically acclaimed, but didn't do too well.
She made her Bollywood debut with 'Mohabbatein' opposite Bollywood stalwarts such as Amitabh Bachchan, and Shahrukh Khan. This movie was a huge success and virtually launched her career, even though she played the role of a young widow.
Preeti Jhangiani starred in four Telugu films during her film career till now. She made her debut in Telugu films with "Thammudu" in 1999, she played the role of Janaki. She starred along with Pavan Kalyan. The film was directed by P.A. Arun Prasad and did very good business at the box office.
Post Mohabbatein, Preeti was seen in movies like Awara Pagal Deewana, Waah! Tera Kya Kehna, Annarth and Baaz. All of these haven't done quite well at the box office. But you can't blame Preeti for being thrilled.
Since then Preeti Jhangiani has acted in nearly twenty movies in various languages.
Preeti Jhangiani was seen in the Tamil film "Hello" (1999). She played the role of Sweta. The film was directed by Selva Bharathy and did average business at the box office.
She appear in a Kannada film Omkara in 2004, Preeti Jhangiani was starred along with Upendra, Shweta Menon. Preeti Jhangiani acted in the Punjabi film Sajna Ve Sajna (2007). Preeti Jhangiani feature in the Urdu film Godfather: The Legend Continues (2007).
She started receiving many offers, but before she could commence filming, she became seriously ill. Her looks and weight suffered considerably due to consumption of strong antibiotics, and she lost all the offers that had come her way. She did recover and did manage to pick up where she had left off.
She spends time listening to music, watching romantic movies and browsing the world wide web.
Preeti has been linked to Mushtaq Nadiadwala, Aftab Shivdasani and model Gautam Rodha.
She got married to Parvin Dabas on March 23, 2008. Parvin Dabas is a model cum an actor, who was seen in Monsoon Wedding. Preeti Jhangiani delivered a baby boy at Breach Candy hospital on 11th April, 2011.
