WASHINGTON, May 16 (Xinhua) --
U.S. space shuttle Atlantis docked with the International Space Station on Sunday morning after nearly two days of flight.
Commander Ken Ham steered the shuttle to a docking with the station at 10:28 a.m. EDT (1428 GMT) when the two spacecrafts were flying 220 miles up over the South Pacific, according to NASA.
The shuttle and station crews will open hatches and hold the traditional welcome ceremony about two hours after the docking.
Atlantis lifted off on Friday afternoon from Kennedy Space Center in Florida, to deliver a Russian module and equipment to the station. It is the last planned flight for the 25-year-old spaceship.
